2 Corinthians 10:13
We, however, will not boast beyond proper limits, but will confine our boasting to the sphere of service God himself has assigned to us, a sphere that also includes you.
The NIV provides a translation conveying Paul's thought that he would not "boast beyond proper limits." However, Thayer's Greek-English Lexicon gives us a little more insight -- it translates the Greek word AMETROS as "without measure, immense". So Paul is really saying, "We won't boast about things that are impossible to measure."
In our passage today, Paul is continuing to defend his ministry against those who attacked him. They claimed he had no track record by which he could be evaluated. Yet, Paul was not making claim about his authority that couldn't be measured or proven. God had done many miracles through him which they had personally witnessed. Those same miracles gave them a standard by which to judge him ("a sphere that also includes you"). In other words, if they wanted proof of the authority God had given him, all they had to do was look at themselves and those around them.
Every once in a while we can be susceptible to the deception of the world. We might even question the authority of God's Word in our lives. That is until we stop for a moment to remember all He has done for us and changed in our lives. Both the internal and external miracles. Take some time now to consider what God has done for you. All the times He has provided comfort and peace, resolved conflict, solved crisis, and restored joy.
